As a company that balances innovation, hard work, and fun, we’d like to take time out this holiday season to sit by the proverbial fire with a cup of eggnog and reminisce on the good times and achievements that 2014 brought.
Living it up
We finished off our year with a bang at the annual holiday party, held at the swanky La Peg. When we weren’t striking the silliest of poses for our photo booth and caricature artist, we sipped on speciality cocktails and munched on fancy hor d’Oeuvres.
We also had 4 quarterly outings to celebrate our company’s success, a Halloween costume contest posted on our Instagram, and a cupcake-decorating competition to commemorate our 7th birthday. And we can’t forget to mention our pig roast, the lunch chosen by the winners of our Philabundance can drive.
Shaking up the tech scene
In 2014 we hosted, sponsored, and attended a slew of tech events in Philadelphia. From our internal Show and Tells where employees presented their own creative projects, to the open-to-the-public Philly Crafted: Tech Showcase kickoff, to the breakfast with author Jeff Gothelf we co-hosted with PhillyCHI, to sponsoring events like Philly Tech Week, PennAppsX, and TEDxPhilly, we believe in the importance of bringing the local tech community together. After all, some of the best ideas come from collaboration.
Employing the best of the best
To help our readers get to know us, we put the spotlight on our own team members with our new Meet the Team blog series, where employees talk up their role at 50onRed and provide tips to anyone looking to break into the biz. We also launched a Careers Newsletter, which keeps subscribers informed of the latest open positions and gives them a glimpse into our company dynamic.
Lending a helping hand
We love our Philly hometown, and donating to local charities is something we really value. This year, we threw an office “flea market” and collected donations for the Philadelphia SPCA in exchange for some of the cool stuff we had lying around. We also donated over two thousand dollars and 150 cans to the local food bank and contributed holiday gifts to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program for underprivileged children in our area.
Getting buzz
Word is spreading quickly about 50onRed, and we got some pretty awesome press this year. MaxBounty interviewed our Director of Sales, Mike Boghosian, Luke Kling of Peerfly wrote a raving review of our Traffic Platform, and Jeremy Schoemaker posed with our swag for his industry-famous Free Shirt Friday blog series. Plus, Philly.com ranked us #8 in their list of best places to work in Philly. Not bad, right?
Changing for the better
2014 was a year of growth for us. Not only did our New York City office move to a new location, but our Philly space was expanded, re-decorated, and hooked up with brand new gear (including a pool table and a celebratory gong for new releases). Our employees had milestones, too: Seven got married (including one couple that met and work here at 50!), two had babies, two celebrated 5 year anniversaries with the company, and one got engaged.
Looking ahead
In addition to skill and ambition, a big key to our success is our team’s shared passion for what we do. If you’d like to achieve new milestones with us, check out our open positions and apply to join our team.
